Eco-Friendly Window

As Winsa, we have completed the works that European countries are obliged to complete in 2015 before them, due to our sensitivity to the environment, and aimed to leave a clean environment for our children as soon as possible.

For today, for tomorrow, for tomorrow afterwards …

For this reason, we took action for the environment with the use of 100% recycled TPE gaskets in 2004, and we completed the ring by starting to produce profiles with environmentally friendly calcium-zinc stabilizers: for today, for tomorrow, for tomorrow …

Ensuring free competition and free movement, which is considered as one of the basic elements of European integration, has made it necessary for joint initiatives and a common policy in the field of environment.

The environmental policy of the EU is of particular importance, since the environment is an area with global effects and it is very closely related to the future of humanity and our world. Issues related to the environment in our country have gained great importance.

The main reasons for the creation of a common environmental policy within the European Union are the fact that environmental pollution does not recognize political boundaries and the necessity of maintaining and improving natural living conditions in a healthy manner in order to further improve the quality of life.

Considering the environmental and human health and safety effects of all products used in human life, new approaches have been developed in Europe and in the world. In this context, the European Union has also established the PVC Industry Voluntary European Board named VINYL 2010 (The Voluntary Commitment of the European PVC Industry) since 2000.

This board includes not only PVC producers, but also the industry that produces PVC additives, including PVC. In this context, Australia has announced that since the beginning of 2008, it will not accept plastic materials containing heavy metals into its country. In the United States of America, the use of lead and similar heavy metals in PVC products is prohibited.

According to the decision taken by ECVM (The European Council of Vinyl Manufacturers), ESPA (The European Stabilisers Producers Associations) and EuPC (European Plastic Converters) within the Vinyl 2010 Board, based on the consumption amounts of 2000, the following ratios are among the heavy metals It is committed to reducing the use of lead, the most widely known.

  • 15% reduction in 2005,
  • 50% reduction in 2010,
  • 100% reduction in 2015.

Vinyl 2010 (European Voluntary Board of PVC Industry) banned the use of Ba-Cd stabilizer, the heavy metal, in all European markets since March 2001. All PVC users started to use lead-based stabilizer groups by following technological developments since 2001. As an alternative to lead-based stabilizers, Calcium-Zinc based stabilizers have been developed with the increase in sectoral developments and environmental awareness.

As a result of this development, the European Voluntary Board of PVC Industry named VINYL 2010 aimed to end the consumption of lead stabilizer by the users in Europe until 2015 and to switch to the use of calcium-zinc stabilizer. This goal will bring great advantages especially in terms of usage, transportation and storage in compound production. There will be no adverse effects for the end user, and environmentally friendly windows that are compatible with the environment and European norms will be produced.

This transition has many technological challenges. Since PVC is not a raw material used alone, it is enriched with many additives and made ready for industrial use. Stabilizer is of great importance among these additives. Therefore, it can be called the foundation stone of PVC Compound.

PVC profile molds and production machines are always designed and manufactured in accordance with the composition created by this chemical texture. Changing the chemical structure by considering existing mold and machine investments requires very high engineering knowledge, cost and know-how.

For this reason, the transition process has spread over a very long period even in European countries. Winsa completed this process in a very short time with its experience and started to use calcium zinc stabilizer in all window and door profile productions.

Winsa, which is a follower and implementer of innovations in its sector, has stepped forward in its sector with this application.
